After five years’ experience in fundraising and communications for Utah nonprofit organizations, Laura started her own consulting firm, Granted Fundraising Consultants, in 2016. To her role as Communications / Public Affairs Chair of the AFP Utah Board, she brings skills gained from creating successful communications and fundraising (including crowdfunding) campaigns for Girl Scouts of Utah and Utah Film Center and from maintaining and growing strong partnerships for Sundance Institute. Laura received her B.A. in Writing with a minor in Linguistics from University of Central Arkansas, as well as her M.A. in Linguistics from University of Hawaii at Manoa.  She also serves as Culture Bytes Chair of the Utah Cultural Alliance Board of Directors.

Laura and her dog Sunny are a volunteer animal therapy team with Intermountain Therapy Animals and make frequent visits to residents of Parklane Senior Apartments and patients at Huntsman Cancer Institute.  Laura also serves as a Team Ambassador for Girls on the Run Utah and is a regular contributing writer to Utah Stories Magazine.  Other hobbies of hers include snowboarding, camping, sewing, crocheting, home brewing wine, beer, and mead with her fiance, and attempting to play the ukulele.
