Biannually, the AFP Utah Chapter recognizes four fundraising professionals at the Fundraising Day Conference for the Patti N. Choate Award and the Outstanding Development Professional Award. The Patti N. Choate Award recognizes the lifetime achievement in the fundraising profession and is granted to the individual based on success and longevity in fundraising and service to AFP Utah and the community. 

The recipient for the Patti N. Choate Lifetime Achievement Award for Fundraising Day 2023 is:

  • Andrea Barnes. 

The Outstanding Development Professional Award is given to three development professionals who have exhibited exceptional skill and effectiveness in their roles as fundraising professionals. 

The recipients for the Outstanding Development Professional Awards for Fundraising Day 2023 are:

  1. Dhiraj Chand, Chief Philanthropy Officer for Principal Gifts at the University of Utah
  2. Laura Leach, Director of Individual & Corporate Giving at Wasatch Community Gardens
  3. Linda Stay, Development Director at Switchpoint Community Resource Center

2018 Lifetime Achievement Award

 AFP Utah Chapter's 2018 Fundraising Day conference "Fearless Fundraising" on April 11 was one to remember!  Perhaps the greatest highlight was the presentation of awards to some very deserving fundraisers in our community. 

Kai Wilson, Executive Director of And Justice for All, was awarded the Patti N. Choate Lifetime Achievement Award for his accomplishments in nonprofit administration, fundraising, and program development and implementation over the past 30+ years.  He was nominated by his colleague Kelly Striefel, who says, "Throughout his career, Kai has been seen as a natural leader. He is known for his ability to bring together people and organization in collaboration to make the most efficient and meaningful impacts possible. Kai’s insight the non-profit sector has made And Justice for All and the organizations it supports tremendously successful."
