Development Officer - Major Gifts

Debra joined Questar Corporation in 1992 and spent much of her career on the government and community relations team. For over sixteen years of her 30-year career, she was the Director of Corporate and Foundation Giving and Community Outreach. In this role, she also managed the company’s volunteer team efforts, the employee political action committee, and the employee political involvement program. When Questar merged with Virginia-based Dominion Energy in 2016, Debra continued to oversee philanthropic, volunteer, and community outreach efforts for the western region of the company’s 22-state footprint.
Debra retired from Dominion Energy in 2022 and, later that same year, joined the University of Utah’s Principal and Major Gifts team as a project manager. In 2023, she transitioned to a development officer role on the team, focusing on mid-level and major gifts.
Debra has served on several boards, committees, catalyst teams, and panels related to the nonprofit and business communities throughout her career. Notably, she served as commissioner and vice chair of UServeUtah, chaired Utah Philanthropy Day, and was recognized by the Salt Lake Chamber with the Pathfinder and Chamber Champion awards.
Debra supported AFP Utah as a funder because she believed in providing training, resources, and a sense of community to the nonprofit sector. She is excited and honored to now serve on the AFP Utah Board, representing the University of Utah.
