About

Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Utah Chapter is Utah's only organization dedicated to the professional development of fund raisers in the state. Started in November 1985 as the Utah Society of Fund Raisers (USFR), the organization transition to AFP Utah Chapter in July 2016 to better serve our membes through increased benefits, online tools, professional development events, and networking opportunities.

Mission:

For 50 years, AFP has been the standard-bearer for professionalism in fundraising.

Purpose:

  1. To promote high standards of service and conduct among fund raisers in the state of Utah.
  2. To provide opportunities for professional development for fund raisers at all career stages.
  3. To promote a Code of Professional Ethics and Standards, and build trust among donors.
  4. To preserve and enhance a culture of philanthropy and volunteerism in the state of Utah.
  5. To keep our members on top of the latest fund raising news and serve as a unified voice for Utah's fund raising community.

Statement of Ethics:

As members of AFP Utah Chapter, we agree to lead our professional lives by adhering to the following ethical standards:

  • We shall not accept compensation that is based on a percentage of charitable contributions nor accept finder's fees
  • We will promote the merits of our institution without disparaging others
  • We will respect all individuals without regard to race, color, sex, creed, ethnic identity, physical challenge or age
  • We will make full disclosure to our employer and avoid potential conflicts of interest or acts which could result in personal gain
  • We will observe the highest standards of personal and professional conduct and ethics
  • We will honor the rights of privacy of donors and confidential information
  • We will utilize donactions only for the intended purpose specified by the donor
  • We will comply with all local, state and federal laws governing the profession
  • We will implement sound business practices, fiduciary responsibly and accepted accounting and reporting procedures
  • We will provide leadership and support in the civic development of the community
