About the Speakers
Dr. H. Daniel Heist is an Assistant Professor of Public Administration and Nonprofit Management in the Romney Institute of Public Service and Ethics at Brigham Young University. Dr. Heist earned a BA from Pennsylvania State University, a Master’s degree in Philanthropic Studies from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University, and a PhD in Social Welfare from the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on charitable giving, philanthropy, and volunteering. His nine years of professional fundraising experience inform his research and teaching. Dr. Heist is a leading expert on donor-advised fund research and co-founder of the Donor-Advised Fund Research Collaborative. Dan and his wife Katie have five children.
Cameron Cole is a seasoned financial advisor with more than 20 years of experience in wealth management. He holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation and earned an MBA from the University of Utah. Cameron focuses on helping clients navigate the behavioral and emotional components of financial decision-making, an area of interest that shapes his empathetic and transparent approach to planning. Cameron Cole, CFP®, MBA As a fiduciary, he is committed to acting in his clients’ best interests. He ensures that clients understand the strategies and tools used to pursue their financial goals. Cameron works with executives, business owners, families, and nonprofit organizations to develop comprehensive, customized financial plans that align with their values and long-term objectives. A native of the Mountain West, Cameron was born in Denver and moved to Montana during his teen years. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Montana. Cameron and his wife met in Salt Lake City and have been married for over 25 years. They live in Riverton, Utah, where they enjoy outdoor activities, travel, and supporting their three children—especially on the soccer field.
