Organizational Overview
Shelter the Homeless, Inc. is committed to making homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring by connecting individuals who are experiencing homelessness with community services that help them achieve housing stability and reach sustainable self-sufficiency.

Shelter the Homeless is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has three primary purposes: 1) to hold land and facilities for the benefit of individuals experiencing homelessness; 2) to select and monitor providers of services for such individuals; and 3) to foster accountability for public safety in relation to homeless services and for the integration of homeless service facilities into the neighborhoods in which they exist. In addition, STH is a leader in supporting the goals of the Salt Lake Valley Coalition to End Homelessness.

Created in the 1980’s, STH is one of the key stakeholders for the coordinated delivery of services to individuals experiencing homelessness. We accomplish our mission by developing and owning properties throughout Salt
Lake County, including four Homeless Resource Centers (HRCs) providing a total of 1,000 beds for emergency shelter – the Geraldine E. King Resource Center for women, the Gail Miller Resource Center for men and women, the Men’s Resource Center, and the Midvale Family Resource Center – and one non-congregate shelter for medically vulnerable and seniors in Sandy. The STH board is designed to consist of political leaders from State, County and City governments, as well as a variety of private sector business and philanthropic
leaders.
