Director of Development


Planned Parenthood Association of Utah (PPAU) is a non-profit family planning agency and a leader in sexual and reproductive healthcare, advocacy, and education in the state of Utah. We provide high-quality, affordable sexual and reproductive health care for Utahns/people in eight health centers across the state.

About this position:
As a member of the senior management team, working closely with the CEO, VP of External Affairs, and volunteer leadership, the Director of Development provides overall leadership and management for securing and expanding state-wide private fundraising and financial support for PPAU and PPAC.

Essential Functions
    • Develop and execute PPAU’s annual fundraising plan.
    • Represent PPAU at local and national professional fundraising organizations.
    • Set annual monetary goals and budgets according to short-term and long-term objectives.
    • Secure financial support from individuals and foundations for capital and operational needs.
    • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors while developing strategies to secure new financial support.
    • Work with and train key volunteers and staff to plan and implement annual fundraising campaigns and to plan and coordinate benefit events.
    • Oversee the organization of fundraising special events.
    • Work with vendors, as needed, to manage direct-mail fundraising.
    • Produce relevant and informative fundraising literature and information for distribution.
    • Oversee the fundraising process and maintains records of receipt and disbursement of funds. 
    • Manage and support Development Associate.
Education, Experience, and Minimum Requirements
    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field required. Two to four years of fundraising experience may be substituted.  
    • Five years of experience in fundraising for a nonprofit organization highly preferred.
    • Strong commitment to equity and inclusion demonstrated through all aspects of fundraising plan and initiatives.
    • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Intermediate skill level using MS Office products
    • Previous experience and demonstrated capability using fundraising software.
    • Professional, self-motivated, results oriented.
    • Strong communication skills (written/verbal/presentation).
    • Detail oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel on an ongoing basis.
    • Strong customer service skills.
    • Adhere to the timeline and completes all required PPAU, PPFA and state mandated trainings.
    • Some evening and weekend work will be required.
PERKS: Starting salary will be between $90,000 - $95,000 DOE. Along with competitive pay, the position will also have a generous benefits package including full medical, dental, vision benefits, short and long-term disability insurance, basic life insurance, accident insurance, flex time, holiday pay, PTO, 8 weeks 100% paid parental leave, and 4% 403b match.
