Donor Engagement Coordinator

The Donor Engagement Coordinator is a new position created as we have reassessed our funding needs and opportunities. As such, we are looking for a self-starter who is interested in helping shape our future fundraising strategy and grow in their fundraising career. Reporting to the Development & Communications Director, the Donor Engagement Coordinator will play a key role in helping connect committed conservationists with ways they can conserve raptors and our shared environment. The hope is for this position to be focused primarily on major gifts in the near future. However, this is currently a small department (2 FTE employees), so qualified candidates must be ready to assist in all aspects of the department from grant writing to event planning to packaging merchandise orders and gift letters.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage relationship plans for key donors,
  • Play a part in making large direct asks, with support from the Development Director and Executive Director,

  • Assist Development Director in writing letters of inquiry, grant proposals, and grant reports

The other 10% of the position’s time will be spent on special events, one-off projects, and other duties as assigned. It also allows a buffer for when the primary duties mentioned above are more time-intensive.

  • Comfort making direct asks for funding
  • Ability to solve problems and prioritize workload independently
  • Comfort working with a remote manager
  • Strong computer skills including experience with or a willingness to quickly learn new systems including Google Docs, Airtable, and CiviCRM

Characteristics That Will Set You Apart

  • Prior experience making large direct asks (We realize that “large” is relative to each organization.) Please don’t apply because your organization’s “large” asks don’t seem “large” enough. Just show us why those gifts were notable.

  • Familiarity with fundraising techniques and strategies
  • Graphic design skills
  • Website management and/or development skills
  • True passion for conservation
