The Utah Rivers Council is looking for a hard-working professional to help us lead Utah onto a more sustainable water path by educating and engaging decision makers about the opportunities to save water and protect Utah’s glorious rivers. We are seeking an articulate advocate willing to speak directly with a wide diversity of decision makers and stakeholders to advance good water and watershed policy.
We are looking for someone who understands how to tell a compelling story with data, but do it both on paper or face to face without losing sight of the big picture by understanding how the audience will react. The ideal candidate is comfortable behind a computer but enthusiastic about speaking in a boardroom or to a city council to advance good water and watershed policy. A willingness to work with audiences from the full political and economic spectrum is essential.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelors Degree and at least two years paid experience in a professional setting, preferably in a natural resource, water, or environmental setting or equivalent experience. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in water, although this is not required. Applicants with a background or understanding in either water policy, water management, water conservation, natural resource economics, government operations, or equivalent experience are urged to apply.
Good writing and speaking skills are a must. Candidates should demonstrate in their application materials that they have a basic working knowledge of at least a few of the many environmental and natural resource challenges facing the American West. We encourage you to visit our website to ensure familiarity with our organization before applying.
